Francesscas Romance Reviews

Collaboration - Backlash

Michelle Lynn & Nevaeh Lee

CollaborationThis is not your typical rock star romance. For one, the “rock star” is a rapper. And not just any rapper. Trace is the hottest ticket in the music industry right now, regardless of which definition of ‘hot’ you choose.

Taryn Starr is not the girl-next-door who unknowingly meets a celebrity. Known as “America’s Sweetheart,” the reigning country music princess and world-renowned superstar knows exactly who Trace is…or does she?

Their worlds collide when the musicians whose paths were never destined to cross are forced by their joint record label to collaborate on a song. The sparks fly and ignite a fire that blazes hotter with every minute they spend together—for better or worse. One thing’s for certain, the two media magnets can’t deny their explosive chemistry, but will life in the spotlight ultimately bring Trace and Taryn together or force them apart?

The Review

Collaboration Special

Myself and a fellow guest reviewer have both reviewed this book and here you will see two opinions. I have also put together some questions and answers for you. I would like to thank Michelle and Nevaeh for the opportunity to be able to do something a little different from other blogs. I will also include some of my very own teasers especially for your eyes.

Francessca's Romance Review

America's bad boy meets America's sweet heart or is it? Michelle Lynn and Nevaeh Lee have done an amazing job with the book and storyline keeping you captivated from beginning to end, just as you think you know where the story is heading you are taken by surprise. The two characters are complete opposites of each other, but as many of us know opposites attract.

Michelle and Nevaeh have a way with words and they are not afraid to take it to that line, Yes your use of the word "pussy" ahhh music to my ears lol. The book contains great descriptions making you truly feel as though you are there in the moment. I have to say that they have taken great care with there writing and this truly shows. The characters are realistic and stay true to themselves. I enjoy the fact that the book is written from both perspectives flicking from Taryn to Trace so you get a true sense of what both of the characters are experiencing.

I love Taryn but I just wished she would stand up to her "stupid" mother, I found myself getting frustrated by the control that her mother held over her. Taryn was realistic in her emotions and I can truly feel for what she went through with been in the limelight, you can tell from early in the book that this isn't the life she envisioned for herself.

This is a wonderful inspiring story about facing the others opinions of your relationship and just been loyal to yourself. I would have liked an "ugly cry" moment as I'm a sucker for a sob story but that does not take it away from this truly magical story. I could not put the book down even though I really had to at times because I was having very limited sleep with the new born with out reading till early hours in the morning. I have to say as well Michelle and Necaeh; you truly had me going there at the end!!

I look forward to reading more of these authors work and think that this is the top ten that should be on every girls one click list!

Review by my wonderful guest reviewer Jodie W

Taryn has just got what she always wanted always dreamt of she has actually done it she has won she has became the youngest recipient of the most coveted award in the music industry and is now on top of the world well ok not quite top but not far off, she has her mother sat at her side and is having to rush from party to party to mingle then on to next party to do the same but she's got to be happy right? She's America's sweetheart.

Trace hears his name yes his name been called up he has done it he has won the Grammy award for best album something he never thought he would get now time for his speech then he can go and party with his boys and keep up his bad boy reputation and look for some hot women as everyone knows he is America's bad boy.

So what happens when Americas bad boy decides to go a step to far and get arrested on the night he won his Grammy well his record label Blacklash which also happens to be America's sweethearts label wants them to do a collaboration surely that will redeem the bad boys image? But what happens when the golden girl meets Mr bad boy with his mocha skin and amazing blue eyes?

I loved this book it had me hooked from start to finish. The book broaches lots of different subjects jealousy, the differing opinions on good girl and bad boy etc. The characters I connected straight away the author really does get the storyline to eat you up. I really enjoyed the way Michelle and Nevaeh gets the characters to feel like you know them personally. I would give this book 5 stars. A big thanks to Francessca for my chance at reviewing this brilliant book.

Question and Answer with the Author:

1) Is Taryn based on any individual you know?
Nope! Many have compared her to Taylor Swift, but that isn’t what we were thinking of when we wrote her.

2) Taryn’s mum really bugged me why did she let her mum control her so much?
Taryn is still young. I think she was getting the nerve to leave her mother behind and not still believe she owes her mother anything for getting her started in the business in the first place, but when Trace came into the picture I think it gave her the extra push.

3) Which bit of the story did you enjoy writing most?
Endings, I’m a sucker for a HEA. But I did enjoy writing the video recording scene as well.

4) Which is your favourite character in the story and why?
Taryn of course! LOL. I fell in love with both Taryn and Trace. I feel like they both came a long way in Collaboration, by finding the courage to change their lives.

5) Are any of the experiences in the book from your own experiences?
Nope completely fiction.

6) And I have to ask the use of the word “Pussy” how much controversy have you caused? You are now my idol though just from the use of that one word! LOL I’m very easily pleased.
LOL. Nevaeh and I went back and forth on that word many times. Whether to use it or not, but ultimately we felt Trace would have said and used that word in the situation.

7) Where did you come up with the storyline for this book?
Nevaeh is responsible for the storyline idea. She gave me the idea and asked me to come along for the ride and co-write it with her. It all started from her seeing the video Airplaces. Watch Here
